Trend

A sustained directional tendency in price over a chosen observation window.

An uptrend is commonly described by rising swing highs and lows; a downtrend by falling swing highs and lows. The chosen timeframe and start point affect the description.

A market can rise across several daily swings while declining inside one hour of that larger move.

Trend is timeframe-dependent and identified after movement occurs. It does not promise continuation.
