Swing high

A local price peak with lower highs visible on each side under a chosen detection rule.

A swing high marks a turning point, but its importance depends on how many neighbouring bars are required and which timeframe is being viewed.

If a candle's high exceeds the highs of the two candles before and after it, a five-bar rule can label it a swing high.

Different lookback rules identify different swings. A local peak is not automatically resistance, and it is not an instruction to sell.
