How it works: pips = price move / pip size, and money = price move x units, with the move reversed on a short
Enter where the trade opened, where it closed, how many units, and which way round it was. The page reports the distance in pips and the money in the quote currency. A negative number is a loss.
It is as useful before a trade as after one. Putting the target price in tells you what the trade is worth if it gets there, and putting the stop price in tells you what it costs if it does not.
The money figure comes out in the currency the pair is quoted in. On EURUSD that is US dollars. On USDJPY it is yen, and you convert it yourself at the rate on your platform.

Questions
Does this include costs?
No. It is the raw price move. Spread, commission and any overnight swap come off that figure, and on a brief trade the spread alone can be a large share of a small move.
Which currency is the result in?
The second currency in the pair. On EURUSD the result is in US dollars, on GBPJPY in yen. Convert at your platform rate if that is not your account currency.
Can I use it for a position I am still holding?
Yes. Put the current price in as the exit and it shows the open profit or loss at that price.
