MetaTrader 4 and 5

MetaTrader is the platform most retail brokers give you to trade, chart and run automated programs.

MT5 is the newer version, with more timeframes and a built-in economic calendar. An account is tied to one of them, not both.

Charts, history and the clock all come from your broker's server, so two brokers on the same platform can show different times and slightly different prices.
